Innovation with Industry 4.0

Production of molds for plastic and thermoplastic – In line with the Industry 4.0 project, our production department boasts highly automated work centres with simultaneous 5-axis machines programmed through CAM software processors. The CAM software we use is OPEN MIND HyperMILL for 5-axis machinery. Combined with our production staff, who all have consolidated professional experience, we are able to achieve the production of molds for plastic and thermoplastic material up to the size of 1200x1000x600, characterised by elevated technical complexity.

In each productive cycle, we are committed to guaranteeing our professionalism and a quality standard which adheres to the company quality manual conforming to ISO 9001:2015 standards through two-fold quality control checks. The pre-assembly and final assembly phases of the mould include the inspection of the components using the appropriate Quality control form and the completion of the internal inspection report. A further ISO 9001:2015 certified test verifies the suitability of the mould processing phases and is carried out by an operator on the client’s premises with a specific production machine (press) for thermoplastic materials.

Cycle and production of molds for plastic

The mould is mounted onto a hot press, which has the correct dimensions and characteristics for production, it is then anchored and prepared with all the connections necessary for production.

Injection: the material (polymer) is brought to its melting point by means of resistances, this allows it to be injected at a certain speed, passing through special input channels inside the mould.
Maintenance: once the cavity is filled, the piece still needs additional pressure to eliminate any air bubbles and give structure to the piece to be produced. The press keeps the polymer under pressure as it solidifies inside the mould cavity.
Cooling: this process involves cooling through special cooling channels; the piece remains inside the mould for the time necessary for the plastic to return to the solid state. In this phase, the press does not perform any other movements except to prepare additional plastic material within the plasticizing group, which is necessary for the next moulding.
Piece extraction: at the end of the solidification cycle the mould opens at the mobile part and the component is pushed outwards through an extraction system and ejection punches that can move at different speeds and pressures. Mould closure for subsequent injection phase.
